Top 6 destinations for responsible trip in Vietnam

Wherever your next destination will be, Responsible travel is above all a trip that we are aware of our affect left, on purpose or by chance, positively or even negatively. And there is always a long list of amazing lands in Vietnam for you to discover. But here we recommend 6 ideal sites in Vietnam that may fascinate you at the very first sight!

1. Mai Chau

Just 4 hours on bus (we always choose the most ecological transport as possible!), Mai Chau  – set in an idyllic valley – is perfect for mountain hikes, views of beautiful rice paddies and flowers. Travel here, we can’t ignore Chieu Cave, Thung Khe white pass, Ban Lac 1 and others tourist attractions nearby. Visitors can stay overnight in traditional houses of Thai ethnics, try ethnic costume and challenge themselves with teaching experience in non-academicals classes for children. That would be a great opportunity to exchange culture between volunteers and locals. Moreover, we also organize team-building activities with lots of fun!

2. Ban Coi

Completely separate from crowded city, hidden in center of Xuan Son National Park, Ban Coi (Coi Village) is seen as a precious stone with a natural beauty. In Ban Lap (Lap Village) – the second one nearby Ban Coi, we can see the Muong and Dao ethnic minority groups live together in perfect harmony. By booking a Responsible travel trip with us, it means you are not only a traveler but also an active community supporter. For the purpose of preserving the nature and cultural values, we offer many others activities for you to discover the local’s life and dive yourself in the wild life here, this is much more than a “normal” trekking trip.

We wake up in a peaceful village with the melody of nature from many streams and birdsongs around then always end up the trip by a small party. Under the night sky, all volunteers, habitants and their kids gather to create a Gala concert, and it would be a coziest night you can ever have in your life!

3. Lo Lo Chai

Located in Dong Van District in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, Lo Lo Chai with Lung Cu flagpole is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Vietnam. Near the Vietnam – China border belt, café Cuc Bac is the only place to check-in and “chill-out” with breathtaking view between two countries. In the aim of helping Lo Lo people – an ethnic minority group – develop tourism service and improve their living condition, our project was launched since 2016 with the hope of making Lo Lo Chai become a cultural village. As our slogan “Better education – Brighter life” one of our main volunteering activities here are giving some simple talk to children to help them improve their ability of adapting to the tourism environment and helping the residents establish homestay accommodations.

4. Sa Pa

A few kilometers south of Vietnam’s border with China, in Lao Cai province of Vietnam, Sapa has a beautiful location in the high mountains, as well as the best choices of accommodation in the North of Vietnam. This destination is always bring great experience to the travelers by the scenery (Dragon Mouth Mt., Love Waterfall, Love Bridge, etc), people and fresh cooler air. The weather here is beautifully foggy and misty. You would be also very impressive with local hill tribes about their daily life, customs and traditional habits. But that is just a half of our trip! Because you are a responsible traveler, your present means much more than you think. You can truly dive into the cozy ambiance here with locals by distributing studying items to the children, joining our cultural exchange Gala night, giving advices to locals to organize better their living environment or improve their homestay to be more attractive,..

5. Cao Bang

Ban Gioc (Ban Gioc Waterfall) is our newest project site located in Cao Bang province, it is regarded as the biggest waterfall in South East Asia, and the fourth biggest natural waterfall in the world that forms a border. Never have any organization worked here before, we are the first and only team offering responsible trip in Ban Gioc. That means your help as our volunteer would contribute a lot to tourism services development and also living condition of locals here. We are still in our first term to carry on our missions including preserving the Khuoi Ky stone village with few locals who try hard to protect their own culture day by day, and showing them how to do tourism right in their land. With the help from all our volunteers, we got success in the other sites and this one won’t never be an exception. After 1 day of volunteering, you still have 1 day to travel and check-in at other tourist sites nearby such as: Lenin Stream, Karl Marx Mountain, Pac Bo Cave which were closely linked to President Ho Chi Minh during the past period. Such an amazing adventure is waiting you!

6. Thac Ba

About 160 km north-west of Hanoi, Thac Ba is the largest man-made lake in Vietnam with more than 1300 islands and caves. This is not only a beautiful destination but also a vital historical relic marking the establishment of Thac Ba hydroelectric dam. Travelling here, you will have a chance to learn sailing boat, floating among islands and enjoying the sight as a painting of nature. Then spending 1 night with locals, you can know more about cultural values in the life of the Tay, Nung, Dao ethnic groups living around by talking and making fishing items which brings local income. Besides, teaching children and helping build the facilities, that is an indispensable part in every VEO’s trip. More must-join activities are visiting the majestic O Do waterfall and fun team building with all volunteers!
